Alphanumeric Sender ID

What is Alphanumeric Sender ID?

Alphanumeric Sender IDs help users to identify and recognize a message sender faster and easier. Alphanumeric ID technology enables the sender to transfer messages with a common, recognizable sender ID built from any combination of numeric and alpha characters (0-9, a-z, A-Z, _).

It can be used to show anything from a business name to the name of any government organization. However, with an alphanumeric Sender ID, the receiver does not have the ability to reply to a message sent with it.

Alphanumeric Sender IDs can be as long as 11 characters. Accepted characters include both upper- and lower-case ASCII letters, the digits 0 through 9, and the space character. They may not be only numerals.

Not all countries support Alphanumeric Sender IDs and those that do require you to register your Alphanumeric Sender ID before you use it.

You can add Alphanumeric Sender IDs from your messaging service provider . When you send SMS messages, BSG will set your Alphanumeric Sender ID as the “From” parameter to deliver your message.

In order to use Alphanumeric Sender IDs with your Messaging Service, Alphanumeric Sender ID must be enabled in your Account SMS Settings.

What characters can you use in an Alphanumeric Sender ID?

Your sender ID can contain both numeric and alphabetic characters (0-9, A-Z) and the space character i.e., ASCII code = 32. The maximum length is 11 characters and in for countries, some mobile carriers may also impose a minimum length.

How to get an Alphanumeric Sender ID

Your ID can be obtained from enterprise SMS providers and in some cases, this option might not be available in all countries, so you will have to pre-register your Sender ID to prevent duplication and fraudulent use. These include major markets like Brazil, Indonesia, Mexico, and the Philippines. These countries may charge a one-off setup fee or a monthly charge for this service.
