RCS Business Messaging

What is RCS Business Messaging?

RCS Business Messaging is the application-to-person (A2P) version of Rich Communication Services — it allows businesses to send verified, branded messages with rich media and interactive buttons to customers through their default messaging app.

How does RCS Business Messaging work?

RCS Business Messaging turns the native messaging inbox into a branded, interactive channel. Unlike consumer-to-consumer RCS (P2P), the business version requires a verified agent profile — registered through Google's Jibe platform or directly with carrier hubs — that displays the company name, logo, and a verification badge to the recipient. For businesses, this solves the core problem of SMS-based campaigns: anonymity.

What features does RCS Business Messaging support?

The format supports rich, interactive elements that go far beyond plain text messaging:

  • Images and carousels: up to ten cards per carousel.
  • Action buttons: call, URL, and calendar actions tappable directly inside the message.
  • Suggested replies: predefined response chips that guide the conversation.
  • Read receipts: confirm whether the message was opened by the recipient.
  • Verified branding: company name, logo, and verification badge displayed alongside every message.

BSG supports RCS Business Messaging through its One API, with automatic SMS fallback when RCS is unavailable.
